Kokonas’ Adventures, 2008

After Christmas in Greece, our New Year began Sylvester it’s called, and firepower’s the plan. Stephanie joined us, to bring in her year with a bang. It was wonderful, our whole family, the Kokonas gang! January put away, February was knocking at the door We three packed our bags, off to Egypt to explore. Camels, and pyramids, desert adventures were fun, Quadding the sand dunes, enjoying the sun. Winter in Germany can be terribly dreary. So I took off, believe me, in a real big hurry. Four days in Calgary, then Arizona bound, After two weeks, mom and I needed Aloha’s sound. With my feet back in Germany, Dean wanted a break Off to Sweden, a long weekend in March we did take. Stockholm is a wonderful city to see, It sits on fourteen islands right in the sea. May’s long weekend found us all Poland bound. Time for a history lesson, on Auschwitz ground. Though not a pleasant story, it must be learned. Our freedom, thank God, was truly earned. Surprise company in June, more adventures were had – Sharon, as my birthday gift, of this I was glad! We laughed and laughed, Germany didn’t know what hit it. Frankfurt, Berlin, and London, we enjoyed every minute! For July’s third week, we explored Paris, France. Dean enjoyed it, not so much me…to leave I did dance. Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Cathedral of Chartres too, There were museums to see, and much more to do. Also in July, our home base we did share, The Jantzen’s came to visit, we laughed without care. We hosted the Jantzen’s in Dresden for eight days, Then packed our bags off to Greece on the beaches to laze. August brought Stephanie and two friends to our home, Italy was on their agenda to explore and to roam. Before she left, off to London our gang headed. We saw Shakespeare and Les Mis, her parting we dreaded. Sharon returned in October, Greg joined her this time, Together we planned some “organized crime”. After time spent in Dresden, to Italy we traveled, Tuscany is where the good times unraveled. In November, Karlovy Vary, Czech we did visit. Relaxing in this spa town was fun, I’ll admit it. It is a beautiful old place nestled tight in the woods, Hot springs from the ground bring up mineral goods. Dark days of December, sun shine here there isn’t, Christmas is the theme, candlelight is the replacement. With school done for the year a four-day break was the plan, The islands of Malta were ours for a quick suntan. This teaching adventure on the other side of the world, A whole new life style, many an experience has unfurled. God’s blessed us this year, in so many ways! We thank Him, and give Him all of the praise.

I enjoyed this photo enhanced version much more than the "note" on FB since I happen to be a visual person. Thank you and Happy New Year!
