First, before the hike, I have to share this little guy with you! Actually he was not a little guy at all, he was easy 6 inches (15 cm) long. He flew into my sunroom, and I had a very hard time calming him down long enough that I could transfer him back out to the yard. He was beautiful; man I love dragonflies, any nationality/country!
Now for the hike:
The school had a "get to know eachother" hike. Was told it would be a casual hike, not difficult... it was a great hike, and got the old ticker really ticking!
It was uphill, hiking to the top of one of the many trails in the Saarburg area. Awesome!
I decided to take my big camera with me, and play with metering for accurate colour. All the photos you will see here have not been touched up in any way, only set on my camera at the time of the shooting.
Fun!
So many pretty things to shoot!
Very much uphill!
and up
and up
and up some more.
A couple of the teachers thought they would show their endurance ability by jogging... they didn't make it very far!
It was quite steep; you can't tell in the photo just how steep.
Have to say, we were some kinda happy to see the gate leading to the tower at the top of the hill = it meant the end of the climb! Our hearts were really working the last half hour of the up, up, upward climb.
Was fantastic though!
Of course, the return was all downhill, and was just a really nice walk (we went back down the road, not the trail); we didn't walk slow, thus keeping the heartrate up for about an hour - yaaaay.
Excellent day.
At the bottom we all had a nice buffet dinner in the restaurant located at the beginning/end of the trail.
Very nice area. Looking forward to going back and exploring some more, just Dean and I.
