Neighbourhood Visitor

This is what I am used to seeing around the house right now: sweet little chickadees, and some of their friends.  I love them!!  Had an unexpected visitor "fly by" yesterday though.

Looked outside my kitchen window yesterday evening while I was preparing supper for guests we were expecting, and saw this beauty sitting up on the roof of the house behind us.

It's quite a ways  away, and I don't have my 300 lense, so couldn't bring him in as close as I would have liked - but was able to get him fairly close.

He displayed such majestic beauty, sitting there, looking very regal.
He sat, content to be on top of the world, for quite awhile.

Then, when he was finished, he just leaned forward, dropped off the edge of the roof, and glided away.

Spectacular.

I love herons!

Cool, I have never seen a heron hang out in a residential area before, esp. on the roof!! Remember the "Great blues" we had in Priddis? No pun intended...
