I walked to the school with Dean for a welcome breakfast, to meet some of the teachers. Beautiful walk.
Walking home I was on my own, and I know nothing - I didn't write anything down, and Dean was too busy to help me figure it out on my phone. So after going to the store, walking around a bit, then enjoying a nice leisurely lunch, I began the trek home; I would do it by memory. Here's what it looked/sounded like:
"There's the Mercedes dealership, I think I turn there...
Yup, this is right, there's the beautiful yellow rose that smells so good!"
Further down the block I know I am on the right "path", because
"There's the peachy coloured rose that has a beautiful subtle smell, and needs pruning; okay, I turn here".
"Ta-da, this is right, there's the kissy garage. Excellent, ganz gut."
Continuing along, pleased with myself.
"Oh-oh, did I turn wrong... I don't recognise that tree... hmmmm."
"Nope, this is right, there's the geraniums I want to have next year. Man those flower boxes look so good! Germans love their flower boxes! Beautiful to look at.
I appreciate that".
Oh-oh, confusion.
"Hmm, do I turn at this street or the next? .... I don't see anything I recognise down this street - I'll look down the next one.
Yup, this is it - there's the really cool tree that looks like it's a plum tree! Or maybe apricots?"
"Ta-da! There's the Linden! I turn down there. Man I love that tree, amazing leaves; the leaves must be about 20 cm (8 in) across! Awesome.
Kay, I know I turn there, and I should see a parking lot, and that huge bush that looks like blackberries?!"
"Voila, that's the one.
I must remember to look it up when I get home; I'll take a picture so I don't forget."
(I did look them up, and these are blackberries! They are all over the place... why did I buy them in the grocery store?)
"And here we are; at the forest walk. Cool, this is my favorite part of the walk! I must come here with my camera."
Such a pretty walk, with wild flowers here and there.
Just nice to walk through and enjoy all of nature - very calming!
Love it.
"I must also remember to ask Laura what this sign says! Too many words..."
"This sign I can figure out - probably says 'nature reserve, area protected for critters, don't enter here'. What I can't figure out is, if it's a protected area, why do they mow it?"
"No longer in the forest, but I know I am on the right road, there's the wild-flower garden; so pretty!"
"Yes!! There's the weeping corkscrew willow, man I love that tree! I should come and cut a couple of branches to put in a flower arrangement, that would look so cool."
"Oh-oh... I am on the wrong road; I do not remember that house with lizards."
"Yup, I would remember a pear tree! I am on the wrong road, but the street ahead looks familiar - I will just keep walking..."
Around the corner, and "yaaaay, there is the hotel and grocery store right across the road from my house.
I made it home without a map!"
Now I just go up the driveway, through the gate, past my yard, around to the back and
Into Frau Carnarius' (my landlord) part of the yard.
So so so beautiful!
There, lesson learned: whenever I use public transportation the first time, I always get lost; if I use flora and landmarks, I am good to go.
Don't know if it will work every time, but it worked this time.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
I rewarded myself with some time in my own garden, enjoying the flowers I have.
I truly am surrounded by beauty here!

As I weeded my way around my yard, I came across another little someone enjoying my garden!
♡♡Love him♡♡

So so enjoyed being back "in your company" again after another long dry spell! Thanks for the wonderful gardener's tour through your new domain. How does Frankfurt compare to Dresden?
