Career Change:

I have decided I am going to become a swimsuit model, here in Oman. I could totally pull off one of the swimsuits they wear here:
the Burkini.
They are actually a real thing, and they really do wear them!

It's kind of funny: you see a group of ladies in their burkinis, and then right next to them is a lady wearing a tiny little itty-bitty string bikini.
You see everything.

There are some nice burkinis in fact.
Some are very stylish, and the ladies look pretty - I can not imagine having all that fabric on during the heat of the afternoon, when the temperature is 33C, but they seem okay with it... They even actually go into the water in them! Can you imagine? I would think all that material would just pull you down! It would be like swimming in your clothes - no thnx.

I got a kick out of this young lady - she was stylin'! She really looked very pretty, and was soakin' up some sun... well, enjoying sitting in it anyway. I don't know how much vitamin D you can absorb when you are totally covered like that?
I need a very lot of vitamin D, so that settles it: I can't wear one!!

Some other ladies were actually down there in their full abayas - some with nothing showing but their eyes!
I think I would die; for real, I do! I would melt, and all you would see is a wet spot where I was!
The men, of course, wore swim shorts...

The resort we are staying in for the first part of our trip, has been the Shangri-la.
Very nice!

Tomorrow we move into town, Muscat, and will be staying at a B&B for a couple of nights.

Dean was VERY pleased to see/smell a Frangipani, (Plumeria) this afternoon while we were out walking around.
Man they smell SO amazing, and you can smell them even from a distance away, they are so profuse!
I love them!

The grounds here are kept very nice, and the terrain/landscaping is very different, and really interesting.
It's actually really cool.
I didn't know what to expect - never having been to the Middle East before, but am pleasantly surprised.
With Oman anyway.

When they are wearing the black ones in the ocean, they look like miniature oil slicks. Nice photos!

Hi! A 'Burkini' ... Is it a real swimsuit?! Wow! I'm happy that I don't need to wear it. Oman can proud of the nice scenery, however it's custom is hard to accept for me.
